October Wrap Up

It's the end of October, Happy Halloween!   And it's wrap up time; this month I read 3 books and I'm almost done with another 2.

First up:

Champion by Marie Lu

What can I say about this book, I LOVE IT...I loved the whole entire trilogy; it made me cry, it made me laugh, it was just perfect.  Here is the review: Champion.

Second up:

Queen of Someday by Sherry D. Ficklin

I really, really enjoyed this book.  It was perfect reading for my concussed head; it's wasn't crazy complicated, just the right amount of drama.  Here is my review on Queen of Someday.

And the last book I read or actually, listen to it was:

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I was really excited to read this book as I had just finished reading the Legend trilogy and my expectations were beyond high.  Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the book a lot, but it wasn't what I was expecting.   Here, I explain more in the review The Young Elites.

Next I have 2 books that I am pretty much done with:

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I will be finishing reading this book this weekend for sure; and I am loving it.

And the last one:

Endgame: The Calling by James Frey & Nils Johnson Shelton

I am listening to this book in Audible; and I am liking it.  It is a very long book, over 14 hours; I have a little more than 4 hours left; so I am hoping to finish this next week.

That was it for October!  I still cannot believe that tomorrow is November, this year is flying...

On another note, how was your Halloween?

October Favorites

And with Halloween and end of the month tomorrow; it's time for monthly favorites.  Since I have been blogging everyday for the last 3 months, I feel like the months are going by WAY to fast, let's slow down a bit...  Next month is Thanksgiving, crazy...

I am going to stop complaining and get with this months favorites, let's jump into it:

1- Maybelline Fit Me Foundation: I couldn't stop using this foundation this month, with the cold weather here; my skin is getting really dry and this foundation gives me the right amount of coverage and moisture.

2- City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappuccino: I got this lipstick in my Ipsy bag; and I have been using this pretty much everyday, if not everyday at least 5 days out of the week.  I love the color, the consistency, well pretty much everything about it.  I will be looking into the brand for sure.

3- Because of you by Jordin Sparks: I love this perfume and have loved for a while now, but with the summer and hot days I kind of forgot about it.  About 3 weeks ago I was in the rush to get out of the house  running late per usual; I picked this up and sprayed and left and...I just fell in love with it again.  It has that sweet scent that is perfect on a cold day; my opinion of course.

4- Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser: I feel like every month I fall in love with more Biore producs.  I use this as my night cleanser in the shower; you know those nights that you just want to take a shower and get out and sleep?  Yeah, those are the nights that I use this, probably 2-3 nights a week and OMG; I love how well it cleans my skin.  You will feel a tingling feeling when you are washing your face and also has that minty feeling, but I don't think it has mint in it.  It really cleans your face.  Love it.

5- Befine food skin care Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15: This is another product that I got in one of my Ipsy bags and I love this moisturizer.  There has only been 2 moisturizers that I have been able to use that has left me speechless; because my skin is sensitive and breaks out pretty quick.  This is the 3rd one that I used and didn't break out, it was love at first sight.  Seriously, it's an amazing moisturizer; it's also Allergen free fragrance, paraben free and vegetarian proteins.

6- JetSet Quick Dry Top Coat by JulieG: I remember the day that I found this top coat, I have looking for this for a while and when I found it, I tweet it and told everybody.  And I am so glad that I found it, there isn't another top coat like it, it has replaced all of my top coats, it's perfect and it really dries SO quick.

7-Reign TV Show on CW: I HAD to include this TV show in my monthly favorites, I discovered this show in October on Netflix and I started watching and let me tell you that first season was done PRETTY quick.  And I have caught up to the current season and OMG, this show is the reason that I love Thursdays (which is today and I will be watching).  I just can't get enough of it, I love the story line, the actors, the DRESSES and the HAIRSTYLES; OMG they are amazing.  Yeah, I am that obsessed over it that I have already done a Celebrity Inspired look on Adelaide Kane, check it out here.  Have you watched the show?

Well, those were my favorites for the month of October.  Which TV show are you loving it?  Have you changed your perfume because it's colder now?

XOXO,

Halloween Look: Broken Doll

Last Halloween look before Halloween...today I brink you the:

Broken Doll

It took me a little bit more time than the others that I have done (Gothic & Vampire and Zombie), but it was still a fun one to do and a popular one this year.

I had my regular makeup on from the day, so I started by adding the white paint that I used on the previous looks (you can click on the Gothic & Vampire for the Halloween makeup), I applied to all my face and brought it down to my neck.

Next I did my eyes, I did a shimmery purple/green on the whole eye (eyelids, crease and up to the brow bone), lined the top and for the lashes, I used a white eye pencil and added a thick line under the eye.  After that I took a liquid liner and lined the white line, creating a bigger eye.  Also to the bottom I added some lines to create the "lashes", and to complete the eye look I added some false lashes, big ones for lots of volume.

I used Benetint by Benefit to  my cheeks, creating a really rosy look.  I setting my whole face with my Rimmel Stay Matte powder.  For my lips I used a bright pink and make my lips a little smaller like a doll, of course.

And for the fun part, let's break that doll face.  Wow, that sounded wrong...So, where was I? Oh yeah, the broken part, take a liquid liner and draw a large dot and trace some lines and add as many as that to the face as you want.  I did my forehead, cheek, nose and a little under the mouth.

And here is the finish look:

I did curled my hair and then did pigtails...

Without the pigtails...

Pigtails...

What do you guys think?  So, which look should I do tomorrow???  AH, I need HELP!

Halloween Look: Zombie

Let's just continue the rest of the week with Halloween posts?  Today I am bringing you another Halloween look; Zombie.  My little girl loved it so much that she begged me to create it on her and of course I did.  My son loved it too and that is what he is going to be for Halloween, but he wanted to try the vampire look and I; of course couldn't say no.

Alright, that is enough rambling; let's get to the look:

For the makeup used, check yesterday's post here; and there you can also check out my Gothic and Vampire look.

Zombie (s)

I started by applying white paint all over my face and setting it with a white powder.  Next I used a grey shadow and applied all over my lids, up to the brow and down below the eyes.  Next, contouring the cheek bones with some brown and grey shadows, go heavy on the contour, you want your cheek  bones to pop.  For my lips I used a dark red and added black on the inside of my lips.  Next, use a red paid crayon and draw lines where you want your "cuts" to be, I did in my forehead, cheek, nose and side of the mouth.  I used a black paint crayon to draw a line in the middle of the red and blended it in with my fingers.  And for the best part...apply your fake blood on your "cuts" and you are done.

I think that I may be doing this look for Halloween, but if I do I will apply the white paint down my neck and my exposed hands and dark it a bit with some grey shadow.

It does look kind of real...

And scary...

These are iphone pictures with different filters, which brings out more the darks...

Ah, I added some veins after, in my forehead and under my eyes...for an "infected" look.

And here is my little model, well she was a happy zombie...

And here is my oldest with a vampire look...

And here is the scary mom and kids...well happy mom and kids...

And that's it for today.

We did some pumpkin carving today as a family and it was great.  Maybe a little too much concentration and stimulation for my brain as now I am suffering from a headache, but it was still fun.

Here is a couple pictures from out pumpkin carving adventure:

What were you up to today?  Are you getting ready for Halloween?

Halloween Looks: Gothic & Vampire

It's Halloween week and for the last week I have been trying some looks for Halloween.  Maybe you guys can help me decide which one I should wear on Halloween?

And for some reason I am totally into the more scary looks this year, and the kids are loving all the different looks that I have been doing, it's been Halloween in my house for a few days now. lol

Today I am going to show you 2 looks, 2 easy looks for that matter.  Want to see? Let's do it.

First, let me show you the Halloween makeup that I used:

I got his kit at the drugstore, contains white paint and 3 crayons (Red, Purple & Black):

This is another kit that I got at the drugstore, you can find these kits everywhere.  The colors: grey, white, red, black & green.  And a little sponge applicator:

I also got this Vampire Blood at the drugstore ( It is really cool)...

I used a setting powder, this one is from Smashbox, elf also makes a really good one:

A black eyeshadow, I used this one from the Naked Basics 1 palette:

And some sponge applicators, I also used some makeup brushes:

First look and really the EASIEST one:

GOTHIC

Prepare your face the regular way, your usual foundation, concealer...  For eyeshadow use a black one all over the lid and bring it up to your crease.  For the inner corner use a white shimmery shadow to balance the dark shadow.  Use a black eyeliner on both water lines and line your top lid.  Use plenty mascara for this look, you can even use some false lashes.  And for the fun part of the look, black lipstick.  I found mine at CVS together with the Halloween stuff.

Style the hair whatever way you want, I had mine straight and parted to one side.

And don't forget a shocker...and wear all black.

I loved how this makeup looks in different lighting...

Second look:

VAMPIRE

This was definitely a fun look to create and I love watching The Originals and The Vampire Diaries and some of the inspiration came from there.

I did use a lighter foundation for this look, used a black eyeshadow in the lid towards the crease.  I used a red eyeshadow in the crease and on the bottom lashes too.  I used a liquid eyeliner to create the veins under the eyes, looking at it; I should have done shorter veins, but it's a lesson that I learned, we have to learn from our mistakes, right?    For the lips, I used a red liner, red lipstick and darkened the outer lips with the black lipstick.  I smudged the red lipstick in the corner of the mouth to were blood would be from feeding...Then I used some red and black shadow on that blood spots...and that was it.

These vampire teeth came with the vampire blood, but they were not comfortable at all...

Yeah, I got too carried away...

Ok, that's a scary face...lol

Close up of the look...

And that's the 2 makeup looks for today.  What do you guys think?

Are you dressing up for Halloween?

XOXO,

Nelia

Halloween Nails

With Halloween right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share some nail design ideas that you can wear on Halloween.  I got some ideas off Pinterest and some from my Halloween decorations that I have around the house and off course the kids helped me with their ideas.

Sorry for the pictures, I took them using my iPhone.

Here are 5 Halloween nails...

1-Scary French Tip: I know I wanted to do something with the color orange, but I didn't want to do the typical pumpkin nail.  I found something similar to this on Pinterest and it is so easy and quick to do.

2-Scarecrow: The kids wanted me to do a scarecrow, so instead I did just his face.  It was easy and it looks fun.

3-Ghost & Spider: So I have these little pumpkins that we got at the dollar store that we spray painted with chalk paint and then we could write or draw on them.  On one of them I have a ghost and a spider next to it, don't ask me why, but that was what had popped in my head at the time.  I was looking at it and decided to do a nail art too...it came up pretty scary cute...such not a fan of spiders or ghosts for that matter. lol

4-Eyeballs: That's another idea from another decoration in the house, I have these eyeballs spread on top of my dinning room table that I think that it's pretty cold and weird at the same time.  And these represent them...freaky

5-More Eyes: These ones are from another Pinterest picture. They are easy to make, fun to look at it, creeps you out but still looks cute in a way.

And there you go, 5 nail designs that you can use this Halloween or this week like I am.

Do you do Halloween designs in your nails?

XOXO,

Nelia
