What I Didn't Say by Jade Beer

From GoodReads:
'An unforgettable page-turner that will leave you heartbroken... captivating and flawless... will leave you sobbing… grabbed my attention from the start and I could not put it down!’ Goodreads reviewer
If you could wish one thing for your daughter, what would it be?
Jenny lost her beloved mother as a teenager. As a parting gift her mother left a bundle of letters, one for each significant day of Jenny’s future. First date, first broken heart, wedding day, when she becomes a mother…
But now Jenny is in her late twenties, and while at the hospital where she works she helps other women start families every day, she still hasn’t opened the letter for the day she meets the love of her life, let alone the one for having a baby.
And Jenny is still writing back:
I’m sorry I don’t love cycling.
I’m sorry I don’t always dream about you.
I’m sorry the last thing I whispered in your ear was, ‘can I stay up late?’ when it should have been ‘I love you’.
When a case of mistaken identity leads to an unexpected friendship with Helen, a kindly shopkeeper in her fifties, the bond growing between them makes Jenny wonder: she treasures her mother’s words more than anything, but are they keeping her stuck in the past?
Can we ever heal from a loss that cuts so deep? Can Jenny find a way to let go, and start living life to the full, as her mother truly wanted?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, this book wasn't per say a bad book, I did enjoy reading it but if you read the above and then start reading the book and then notice that it's told from one just Jenny's POV but from 3 other different people, one is the a person that Jenny makes a connection with and forms more like a mother bond with, while the other POV is this person's daughter and the other someone that mother and daughter know among themselves.  Yeah, it is a little confusing at first, not going to lie, but you get into the story line and go along with it.

Jenny lost her own mother while she was still a teenager and she seems to not have moved on from it.  Her mother because passing away from letters for the most important days of her live, like getting married, or having a baby.  But Jenny has a problem and opens the letters more like when she needs her mother than when will those letters on those days.  She is on her late twenties, is a midwife and loves her job, the only problem?  She is not married and doesn't have any kids, she is depressed and starts to really hate that.  One day, one innocent incident happens that converts into a lie that becomes bigger has the days and weeks go by and she doesn't know how to stop until it's too late.

Helen, owns a couple bridal shops and nothing makes her happier than to help brides.  She has lost her husband a few years ago and she doesn't know how to move past that stage.  She thought that her daughter would be leaning on her for everything but now a days it seems that both of them are growing apart, she is feeling lonely more and more.

Betsy is Helen's daughter is she is just as lost as Jenny and Helen but on a totally different way.  She has a great job that she loves and strives to improve even more.  But she is engaged and even though she is suppose to get married in a few months she's further from wanting to planning the wedding or to get married.  She has fallen out of love from her fiancĂ©e and doesn't know how to break the news to him or her mother, she doesn't know who is the worst.  And to make things worst, she is falling for her boss hard.

And then we have Nat, who is a bridesmaid to rent.  Yeah, you read that right.  People rent Nat to be their bridesmaid and plan their wedding.  That's how Betsy ends up meeting Nat, but ends up forming more of a friendship with her.  And that's how Helen knows Nat her and forms a bond with her too.

And that's how complicated and entwined this book is and really different from the synopsis. But like I said it was still interesting, I personally loved Betsy's story line the best, Jenny was kind of all over the place and I really didn't like how she just kept lying to people, so that was disappointing.

Overall, 3 or 5 stars.

Book Review: Forgiving Keven by Siobhan Davis

Yes, it's that time again, time to catch up on some reviews.  I'm promising myself this year to be better at doing this, last year I just slacked at them so I'm going to sit down at least twice a month and just get down to my reviews.  Let's hoping to keeping this revolution :)

Now, let's get to this review, which I thought it was done already and voila, it's not.  So, without further do...let's jump into it.

Forgiving Keven by Siobhan Davis

From GoodReads:
She’s the one who got away. He’s the boy she can’t forget…
Cheryl

They say you never forget your first love, but I’m determined to prove Keven Kennedy is just a random boy from my past.
It’s not like I still think about him after all this time. Or daydream about how hot his kisses were and what it felt like to have his hands on my skin.
Nope, that’s not me. I’m in a happy place in my life. Engaged to a great man and finishing the last year of my photography degree.
But since I returned to Massachusetts, everything reminds me of the boy who ripped my heart to shreds. Especially when my fiancĂ©’s constant business trips, and dwindling attention, raises old fears to the surface.
And then the unthinkable happens—Keven saunters back into my life, turning it upside down once more.
It’s ironic he thinks he’s protecting me when the only one I need protecting from is him.

Keven

They say you never forget your first love. In my case, it’s true. Most everyone in high school thought Cheryl and I were a match made in heaven and that nothing could tear us apart. Until I messed up spectacularly and lost the best thing to ever happen to me.
Years have passed, girls have come and gone, but no one has laid claim to my heart in the way Cheryl did.
I thought she was lost to me forever when an unexpected encounter with an uptight FBI agent, and an intriguing proposition, brings the beautiful blonde back into my life.
I didn’t hesitate to sign on the dotted line.
I let Cheryl down once before. I’m not going to fail her this time.

First of all, if you haven't started reading the Kennedy Brothers series yet, first, where have you been and second, please do yourself a favor and start reading this series because third you are not going to regret reading about hot boys and a crazy family and has the series progresses it?  Things just keeps getting more crazy and dangerous and did I say crazy?  Yeah, but let's not forget about how hot and steamy these books are too.  Let's get into Forgiving Keven and in my opinion even though I would prefer for you to read all the books before reading this one first, I got stay if you come across this one and read it first, yeah you definitely can do it.  So let's do this.

Keven has had his share of girls come into his life but one thing is for sure, he hasn't never been able to forget Cheryl, his very first love, the girl that he has loved more than himself and that's a secret that he has never told not even his family.  But things are about to change and they are about to chance big time.  When things went south and the FBI shows up on his door step, Keven thought his whole life was over, but when the FBI decides to give him another chance and when that chance had a picture of Cheryl in it, he doesn't even think twice about it and signs on that doted line lightning speed.  Now, he will do nothing and everything to protect and make sure nothing will hurt her.

Cheryl, moving back to Massachusetts has been maybe the best decision she made, that is she is finishing getting her photography degree and already working at a studio part time and she is engaged to a great man.  Life is finally going the right way, that is until Keven Kennedy walks into her life again.  He tells her that he is there to protect her and help but the only thing that she needs protection is from him and all the feelings that is coming back to surface again.  But she really doesn't know the worst that is coming her way.  Be ready for lots of action!!!!

Keven has always been the protector and the quiet one of the Kennedy's and I couldn't wait to read his book and damn if it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be.  Keven delivered what I wanted from him, all his techie stuff (too cute), his protectiveness (just like his brothers) and oh man can he be romantic on his own way, he sure isn't like the others on the romantic stuff and I love that, but he still gave me butterflies in MY stomach lol.   Cheryl was one of my favorite girls, and love them all.  She was hard to get even though they have known even other forever and all the parts she had to play to help Keven?  She is a badass in her own way...you go girl.

Loved it, I of course devoured this book once I got it can gave it 5 out of 5 stars and cannot recommend it enough.

XOXO,

Nelia
