Book Review: Hushed by Joanne MacGregor

I love reading retellings and when I had the opportunity to read a retelling of The Little Mermaid, I didn't even had to think twice about it; I jumped right in, both feet at once, no tail, I'm no mermaid lol.

Here is the book:

From GoodReads:

Would you sacrifice your voice for love?

18 year old Romy Morgan desperately longs to escape the boring future her parents have planned for her, and explore the world.

When she saves her celebrity crush, superstar Logan Rush, from drowning, Romy is offered a job as his personal assistant.  She strikes a deal to reinvent herself in exchange for entering the exciting world of the movies, and love sparks between her and this prince of Hollywood.  But Romy soon discovers that she has traded her voice and identity for an illusion of freedom.

When she discovers a dreadful secret with the power to destroy Logan, Romy must choose between love, revenge and finding her own, true element.
-----------------------------

First of all, this book takes place in South Africa, I don't know about you but this is the first book that I've read that takes place in South Africa and just for that I loved it.  Second of all, I just want to mention that Romy loves the ocean and loves the sea animals and is a big, huge supporter of saving the whales and sharks and double the appraise for that.  It's not everyday that you read a book where things like this in implemented in it and I loved, loved reading those parts of the book!!!!  So well done!

Now into the romance part of the book, because yes people, there was romance and drama so don't worry about it, it wasn't all about Romy talking about saving the whales and the sharks...lol.  Romy and Logan are freaking cute and this book is the perfect summer read, it has everything you want in it.  Romy has been in love with Logan for ever but Logan is just meeting her so he treats her nice and everything but doesn't fall all crazy in love right away which I really appreciated.  And when he does?  It was so cute the way they both acted, but then something big happens and Romy has to make a decision and from there until the end of the book is just great, so, so great.  These two are perfect and made for each other!!!

Loved it...4.5 out 5 stars.  Totally recommend.

XOXO,

Nelia
