Book Review: The Orphan Queen by Jody Meadows

Well, my friends it's time for another book review, who's ready?  Let's do this:

The Orphan Queen by Jody Meadows

Wilhelmina is a princess but if you see her now you will never guess, why?  Because when the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kindgom's capital.  Ten years later, they are called the Ospreys, they are experts at stealth and theft, but that's not important, the important it's with them Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

But to take back her throne Wilhelmina needs to go in to Skyvale Palace as a spy to study their foes.  She goes together with her best friend, Melanie, and together they take the identities of two nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom.  Everything goes according to plan, both Wilhelmina and Melanie study the Palace and everybody else there.  But the Osprey missions becomes dangerous and their leader unstable making Wil unsure who to trust, she isn't sure if she can trust Melanie anymore.

Wil becomes a threat also, when she decides to go investigate herself one of the wraith kingdoms.  What is wraith?  Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden.  But wraith still pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors.  And it's coming to Indigo Kingdom, sooner than everyone else things.  Wil's magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but magic is forbidden and is the vigilante Black Knife finds out about Wil's magic, she will vanish just like all the others.

Then we get to meet the vigilante Black Knife and Wil realizes that he is nothing like she thought he would be and the more time they spend together the more they fall for each other.  And the more time they spend together, the more Will starts helping Black Knife save the city.

But can Will help Black Knife save the her city?  Can Will take her throne back?  And what about the Ospreys?  Are they falling apart?  And who is Black Knife?

Oh, you will get all the answers for these questions my friends, so grab this book and read it.  There is lots of action and magic and of course let's not forget some romance.  I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did but I sure did and now I can't wait for the next book.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars and I really recommend it, so go ahead and pick it up if you haven't yet.

And this will do for this review.  Have you read it?

XOXO,

Nelia
