Current Hair Care Routine

One of the things I enjoy is taking care of my hair, so here is my current hair care routine.  I am really happy with the products that I'm currently using and I can see a difference on my hair now.

Let's start with what I use for washing my hair:

Shampoo number 1, Organix Macadamia Oil.  Love it, makes my hair shinny and really, really smooth.  I have seen a huge difference in my hair since using this shampoo.

But as you know you also need to clarify you hair from all the products that you use.  And for that I use Suave clarifying shampoo.  Inexpensive and effective, period.

I color my hair, well who doesn't right?  My hairdresser recommended me this Matrix Biolage as I have gotten my hair through hell last year when I had red undertone and wanted some blond, well that was some over processing job right there.  So I started using this conditioner and I just can't stop it, I have repurchased a few times and will continue to do so.  It really bought my hair back to life.

Masks time:

I use a mask 1 to 2 times a week, depending how my hair feels.  I rotate between these two mask and I love how each does a different job and still makes my hair really soft.

This Silicon Mix bambu mask helps with growth but also still makes your hair feel so soft. Will continue to purchase.  And I got the big jar over 6 months ago and I still have a little more than 1/4 left.  It sure last a while.

OMG, I love, love this mask.  Want shinny, soft hair, this is the mask right here.  It also contains bamboo extract to help with split ends.  I love it and totally recommend it.

Oh, I almost forgot about this product, and I have repurchased this one more than once and will continue to do so.  Garnier 1 Minute Replenishing Treatment.  I love this especially when I'm in a rush and don't have the time to use a mask.  It smells amazing and really moisturizes your hair.

Once I'm done washing and moisturizing my hair, I towell dry a little and apply these products:

Matrix total results, it's a leave-in conditioner that helps with split ends and breakage.  I have seen a difference on my hair, it doesn't break that easily anymore so it's ending with the split ends a lot.  You do need a good amount if you have long hair, so the product does finish it pretty quickly.  I am not sure if I will be repurchasing this one right away.  I have a few leave-in conditioners that I will have to finish it up first.

Now, hair oil is one of my favorite things to use, it's an amazing product.  I have been using this one from Garnier.  It really makes a difference in your hair, makes it shinny and soft and I love it...

And the last thing that I use in between washes is my Batiste dry shampoo.  It's perfect, totally recommend it.

That's it for my hair care routine.  Loving my products and loving how they are making my hair feel.  Happy girl right here :)

XOXO,
Nelia

Book Review-The Lunar Chronicles Books 1-3

Cinder-Marissa Meyer

Book 1 of the Lunar Chronicle Series, this book is a re telling of our lovely Cinderella BUT let me tell you this, you will love Cinder.  She is not your typical princess, she is a cyborg mechanic who lives in Beijing China, which means she is not 100% human, she is actually 37.5% robot.  She lives with her adoptive family, a mother and 2 daughters, the father died of the terrible disease that is attacking our planet.  The mother and 1 of the daughters don’t like Cinder, but the younger daughter loves Cinder.  Cinder is a mechanic and spends her days offering her services in the fair, which is where she meets Prince Kai, when he went there looking for her to fix her android.  When Cinder’s little sister contacts the disease and dies, the mother volunteers Cinder to the palace for research in finding the cure for the disease.  There is finds out that she is immune to the disease and she agrees to help Dr. Flynn in finding a cure.  There is where she bumps into the prince again and again and they start to bond and talk.  Thinks starts getting weird and also going to downhill when the Emperor dies and the Queen of Luna comes to visit Earth.  At the end of the book Cinder is in jail, for what? Well, you just have to read the book to find out.
Great book, great series, I totally recommend this book in a heartbeat.

Scarlet-Marissa Meyer

Book 2, wow, that’s how I’m going to start this review.  I love Marissa Meyer’s writing and the way she introduces you to totally different characters that somehow blend perfectly together.  In book 2 Cinder is trying to escape prison and she finds help on the way, which is when we meet Thorne, a prisoner.  Then we meet Scarlet and Wolf, 2 characters and story line that keeps you wondering how they are going to blend in with Cinder and then boom, it happens and it’s perfectly written.
Let me tell you a little about Scarlet (the little red hood), she lives in France and her grandmother is missing and she will do anything, I mean anything to find her even when the police gives up on the case.  She meets Wolf, a street fighter that tells her that he has information about her grandmother and can help Scarlet find her.  And they do and things don’t go according to plan and on the way she meets Cinder and things get 100% more complicated.

Cress-Marissa Meyer

Book 3, and I think my favorite of the series so far, let’s not forget there is another book coming out next year, I cannot wait for it.  Well let’s go back to the review.  In this book we meet Cress, which is the re telling of Rapunzel, she is a shell and from Luna.  She has been stuck in satellite since she was a little girl, she is the Queen’s programmer and IT person up there.   But she is tired of living that way and she is not a fan of the Queen, so she doesn’t think twice when Cinder contacts her to help them out.  During the rescue things go down south and Cress and Captain Thorne are left on the satellite and crashing to Earth.  You really get to know Thorne in this book; he is funny, courageous and just amazing.
Cinder is still finalizing a plan to save Kai and it’s a crazy plan but everyone is on board and ready to help her.  During the rescue of Cress, Scarlet is taken as a prisoner to Luna, Wolf is devastated but still ready to help Cinder.  One of the Queen’s soldier is left behind with Cinder and uses him to help her thinking that he knows about her been the Princess but he is there to help the Princess but it’s not Cinder, it’s Winter, the Queen’s stepdaughter.  Lots of action happened on this book which by the end it just left you craving for more of this story.  I don’t want to spoiler the end, but you can say that Cinder’s plan was pretty great.

So, if you haven’t start reading this series, please do yourself a favor and go read it, it’s just to amazing for you not too.  That’s it for now…

Nelia

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Wow, I cannot believe Mother's Day is really just around the corner.  I'm a little late doing this but I wanted to do a gift guide for anyone looking for gifts last minute like me...let's start:

Brunch/Lunch-take your mother out to eat or cook something and eat together at home.  Don't forget your mimosas :)

$120.00
$90.00

Perfume-now tell me which woman doesn't like to get a perfume.  My mom LOVES it, she has a little perfume collection and now it's getting harder on me to buy a new one for her.  Above it's 2 perfumes, Chanel 5 (a classic) and J'adore Dior (love it), it's mother's day and if you are going to spoil her, get her a nice perfume.

$16.99

A mug, I don't know about your mother but my mom loves to drink her tea and cappuccino and she loves getting mugs for any occasion.  The one above you can find it at Etsy and for the price it's really reasonable.

Flowers, every woman loves getting flowers and mothers day is just another perfect occasion to get them.  This is a gift that can cost you as little to as much as you want.  I always get a small bouquet of flowers together with a nice gift.

Makeup, I love makeup and so does my mom, this is the perfect occasion to get her a little more expensive brand that she wants but doesn't want to splurge.  MAC is always a favorite, I would go with a lipstick which runs around $23 and Naked palette, it's the perfect palette with neutral colors, and it costs $50.
MK Large Selma $358.00
A purse, now it's the time to get mom a nice expensive purse.  I love Michael Kors bags, they are amazing, they do cost a little but it will last her forever.  I have one for 4 years already and still looks new.

Jewelry Time, a piece that mom will love it...

$275.00
MK watch, yeah you can guess it I love MK products.  The one above is a classic MK watch, gold, oversize.

Zales $69.99

A mom's ring, where she can have all her kids gem stores.  The one above is on sale right now, so go get it...

$120.00

Tiffany's, you do you would love to get that blue box and I'm pretty sure mom would love it too.  Tiffany's can be a little too expensive, but I found the above necklace for a reasonable price.

And my last one is a Spa day, you can book one for you too and spend a whole day together.

That's it, my top 10 gifts for Mom, now go ahead and spoil her and if you are a mom go spoil yourself, because I know that I am lol

XOXO,
Nelia

Monthly Beauty Favorites-April 2014

It's a little bit late but here are my April favorites:

Starting off with Skin Products:

Picture from Online source

Here is a little background: I was born in Portugal and moved to USA when I was almost 15 years old and I still have family there, which whom I visit from time to time.  While I was there last year visiting I came across some beauty/skin care products that you cannot find in US, so I brought back a couple to try it out.
And one of those products is this Rose Water, and I am totally in love with it.  I actually bought 4 bottles to bring it back with me and I am so glad that I did that.  I use it as my toner during my AM and PM skin care routine.  To bad you cannot get it here...

My skin is sensitive and I love to try new products but most of the time I break out within the 2nd or 3rd day of trying new products so when I find one that works right away and my skin actually loves, bam, I'm in...As I said I tend to break out easily when I try new products so I was looking for something that would help me with breakouts and I got this cleanser/mask by Neutrogena and thankfully my skin loved and still loves it.  I use it primarily as a cleanser at night time, but from time to time I'll use it as a mask if I get some breakouts that are driving me crazy.  It doesn't leave my skin dry at all and really helps with the breakouts.

Let's take a moment, does Benefit make bad products?  I do take a while to invest on more expensive products which I love when you can get samples of them to try it out.  I got a tiny little benetint on my ipsy bag a couple months ago and I still cannot stop using it.  It's perfect for your cheeks but also for a quick tint on your lips.  And pretty much done with the little tiny sample and I'm ready to invest on a regular size of it.

Let's talk about Revlon lip stains, I loved the original formula, but they have out did themselves again.  I bought Vivacious Lacquer and OMG, it's hydrating and the pigmentation is just amazing.  I have gone out and got myself a couple more, but right now I'm loving using Vivacious.

My go to palette/shadows this month? My lovely Naked Basics.  From neutral, natural eye to a smoky one, this palette is perfect for both.   If you are looking for colors this is not the palette but if you love neutral eye shadows then I would so recommend the investment on this palette. I have Naked and Naked too, so investing on this one wasn't too hard.  Urban Decay shadows are amazing and easy to work with.

This is another product that I wanted to try and didn't want to spend on the full size just in case I didn't like.  And let me tell you where you can find some of those little sizes to just try a product, Sephora, good old trusty Sephora.  I love how they offer those $10 deals on mini products, I get to try and decide which one I want to buy.  And this bronze from Tarte is by far my favorite bronze.  It's called Park Ave Princess, it doesn't have a little shine to it, but it's more towards the matte than the shinny side.  I love the pigmentation, the color, everything about this bronze.

That's it for April...loving my products so much...

XOXO,
Nelia
